Questions from Sibeal...
1. May I inquire as to the origin of the disclaimer on your blog? Was there a specific incident or is it just good common sense?
:Brad: added it to his blog and it just seemed like a good idea. I don't often talk about work anyway, but I thought I'd play it safe.
2. Do you prefer fantasy or sci-fi books? Defend your answer.
I really enjoy both genres. I like sci-fi for the "this is our world, but in the future" type writing and fantasy for the "this is definitely not our world or your normal abilities" type stuff.
3. I know you volunteer at fan conventions. Tell us about an experience with a fan that caught you off guard, even for a FanCon.
I haven't really had any odd interactions at the cons I've been to. Sorry! I'll be sure to look for the weirdos at the next one though. ;)
4. Do you own any other domains for a rainy day? Are they top secret or can you share them with us?
I do! I have lisaster.com (but I just let it lapse), morethangeek.com (which I was going to use as a consulting site but haven't done anything with), oldhollywood.org (which I love but don't know what to do with) and techieswithcats.com.
5. Of all the shows on your TiVo right now, which two do you really, really wish you had time to watch?
Well, I only have 2 shows on there right now: Law & Order and That '70s Show but of the things I Tivo, I love Gilmore Girls and Monk rank at the top of my list.
So there you go!
1. Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I will respond; I’ll ask you five questions.
3. You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers.
4. You'll include this explanation.
5. You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.
(And if you want to ask me some questions, I’ll be happy to answer them.)
I decided that I'd leave my truck at home this trip instead of parking at the airport for a week+ so on Monday I got to research airport shuttles.
I went to company A's website and made a reservation for pick up at my apartment on Friday evening. I got a confirmation and everything. Later that night I got email from company A telling me that they were currently not operating and to please call company B. Blech, but ok.
I called company B and asked if they picked up in my area (since their web site said they do not). She said no, but they're covering company A's territory while company A figures out what they're doing. Then she said there's a big meeting Wednesday night to determine if company A will be back in business and she can't take a reservation from me until that meeting.
So now I'm at the point where both company A and B will not commit to giving me a ride to the airport.
I figured I'd call tonight and see what happened but on the way back from lunch today there was a different airport shuttle next to us. I called them and they were happy to commit to getting me to the airport.
I like when things are taken care of so I booked with them.
I kind of would like to find out what happens with company A and B, but sheesh. Company A could have put something on their web site.
I'm heading to Boston and surrounds Friday (3/25) around midnight (JetBlue!) and will be out there for a week. If you're Boston local and want to get together, let me know if you need my cell phone number. I'll also be checking email.
Since I'm an avid reader and Snidge pinged me...
You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
It's been too long so I don't really remember Fahrenheit 451 at all.
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Mr Darcy was definitely crush-worthy.
The last book you bought was:
Divine Evil by Nora Roberts (airplane reading)
The last book you read was?
The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes and The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory
What are you currently reading?
The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant
Five books you'd take to a deserted island?
The Eight by Katherine Neville
The first three books in A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R R Martin (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords) (because they're big books and have a lot of neat stuff going on)
Not sure what to pick for #5.
Who will you pass this stick (3 persons) on to, and why?
I'll let them pick for themselves. :)
My stepbrother pointed out a new quotes site to me.
"A good film is when the price of the dinner, the theatre admission and the babysitter were worth it."
"Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city."
"You must do the things you think you cannot do."
PS: A formal welcome to blogging to you, Bill!
Ok, so I'm going. :Brad: has offered to let me stay in his guest room (this is based on the assumption that his stuff follows him to Redmond) so that lops off the hotel costs and Chris and I worked together on the other parts (now I have to do my part and find a flight).
Yay! I'm looking forward to going and seeing Seattle. (And meeting more bloggers.)
