So it's not as simple as it would first appear. There as some kind of glitch with ~15 serial numbers (one of which is mine) and they all got assigned to this woman named Vicky who lives in Highlands Ranch. I am not Vicky nor have I ever lived in Highlands Ranch.
After spending quite a while on hold, and finally getting a person, the helpful person was able to move my serial number over to my account. But he was not seeing that my AppleCare had been activated for my iPod, so now he's put in a request to get a duplicate receipt from CompUSA so he can retroactively apply my 2 year warranty.
The question is, of course, will this all be done before I go out of town?
I'm going to wait until Thursday and if it's not been reconciled, I'll probably buy a new iPod (unless I can borrow one from someone local). When this account mess is fixed, I'll end up with a brand new 40G clickwheel (4th Gen) iPod and my new whatever I get. I'll put one of them up for sale since I don't need two. If you think you'd be interested, please leave me a comment and I'll keep you updated with the iPod saga.
My iPod has been unhappy lately. Since probably before my trip to NJ but I wasn't using it then, so I am not sure. Anyway, on the trip, it would decide it was going to skip 20+ songs at a time, then play a few and then skip a slew more. After about a week of trying, I finally got the iPod updater to reformat it, and I copied some music over to it. I rebooted my computer, and the iPod hung my PC (that was another bad behaviour it developed).
Today, we went to the Apple store (with the iPod and 2 year extended warranty box in hand) to get some idea of what I could do about it only to be told that my warranty wasn't associate with my iPod serial number. I called Apple Care and it turns out that my warranty was associated with my iPod right after I purchased it, but in Jan '05, it got transferred to someone else. :p I have to call them again on Monday and get it all straightened out and then I get a brand new replacement iPod. Yay, Apple! (Boo that they couldn't fix the weirdness today, but it's Saturday so that's not too shocking).
In other news, we'd picked up a USB wireless whosit for my Tivo, but it didn't work with the Tivo so back to the store it went. There was a CompUSA next door to the Staples (where we'd gone originally) so we wandered over and asked about USB wireless whosits for Tivos. The helpful sales person brought us over to the Tivo area and handed us a Tivo branded gadget. Yay, that means very high likelihood of happy technogies. Except my Tivo has been offline since last September when I moved, so now the poor thing is downloading software updates and whatnot so we can even use the wireless goodness.
Overall, a good hardware day. :)
Ugh. Two nights of dozing (instead of sleeping soundly) are kicking my butt. It's hard to remember not to sleep on your right side when you're a side sleeper and used to being able to switch sides in your sleep.
The stitches came out this morning (early so I could start work on time) and the doctor said everything looked great. It's all healing up nicely. I shouldn't poke that area with a toothbrush yet (a couple more days), but he was very happy with how everything looked. There's only a little swelling and no bruising (I had a story planned in case I ended up with a bruised jaw).
Mood: craving a nap
Ok, so that was nearly 2 hours of dental surgery. Endodontic surgery to be precise. Even better? He finished and stitched me up (my first stitches unless I had some as a toddler) and then the X-ray showed that there was a teeeeeny sliver of root still there. So he removed the stitches and s'more bone and got the bugger out. I was done at 9:15.
I have to go ice again and then I'm taking my Darvocet and going to bed. :p
Update: I forgot... I had more than 6 shots of Novacaine. I stopped counting, but I hit six pretty early in the whole procedure.
So that rotten, annoying root canal? Yeah, I'm having surgery on that again. My appointment is for 6 pm 6:45 pm tonight and they're going to go in and remove the lower part of the roots so that I am assured that there are no nerves left there to be miserable.
If you have spare happy thoughts, I could probably use them.
I have no problem with people choosing to use something other than :MT: when they blog (because different packages work better for different people, same thing goes for OSen, browsers and editors -- I totally get that), but dammit if it doesn't piss me off when I go to leave a comment (from the laptop) and I get the "you can't post comments from your laptop because it doesn't send some information that I need, sucka" error message. I almost never go back and leave a comment on those posts when I am on my PC later.
So :p to whatever cofiguration option causes that.
