I couldn't remember the name of the book I was reading... then I was browsing through LiveJournal and saw that some friends had done a meme... and it's from the book I'm reading.
The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman.
December 7th - in theaters. I'm going.
I started to read Lightning by Dean R Koontz tonight because I stopped for dinner on the way home and didn't have the book I'm currently reading with me. It had this quote at the beginning of the book:
Being deeply loved by someone
gives you strength;
while loving someone deeply
gives you courage.
The apartment is cleaned (and dusted too!). The huge stack of cardboard boxes have been delivered to soon moving people. The pile of clothes to be rehomed has been rehomed. Yay to progress on the to do list!
This happens every spring. I get excited by the warmer air and sleep with the window open. Letting all of the lovely allergens into my room in the night. Three nights of that seems to be when the breathing problems start. I had to use my albuterol inhaler this morning. Rah. Now I have the shakes.
I'm still not closing my window though. :p
What a crazy amount of storage space to have... at home. That always seemed like an impossibly huge number (it still does, but it's mine!).
This is what I got: Western Digital My Book Premium Edition II - 1TB, 7200 RPM Triple Interface (USB 2.0 AND Firewire 400/800) External Hard Drive
Now I just have to get it hooked up. :D
NSPy did great at the vet's for the weekend. He was friendly and unbothered by the other creatures. Except he didn't do a great job of eating. They ended up having to feed him intravenously because his blood sugar was getting too low. The number reported to me was 77 with a note that that was perfect and keep him at his current insulin dosing, but I guess it got lower than that sometime and so they pumped food into him.
He was *so* happy to be home last night. He even ate some food for me before I ran back out for the evening. It took some doing, but he finally climbed onto the bed and slept next to me. And this morning, all of the previous night's food was gone. This morning, he wasn't overly interested in food, but ate enough so I could give him his shot and I overheard him eating more before I left for work.
Update: Another kitty was boarded this weekend (might be better not to drink while reading this link).
In other news, Stonyfield reps were giving out free Berry Boost Shifts to commuters leaving from Alewife (because of Earth Day). It was pretty tasty -- I'll have to price it at the store.
Friday was my mom's birthday, but I was not near a keyboard very much, so happy belated birthday, Mom!
Today is Bill's 40th birthday! From all accounts, it sounds like his party was a lot of fun. :)
And the quote of the day for today:
The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them.
So happy 40th birthday to Bill and happy 39th(*) to Mom!
Janet gave me some of her BPAL imps to try out. I've tried 2 so far. One I liked and one - ew. I won't be doing this often because I only have the 5 Janet lent me and really, I don't need another money-spending hobby. :D
Updated: tried a few more... notes below.
