If you get the chance to see Jonathan Coulton (with Paul and Storm is even better), you should take it. It's worth the crappy chairs and crowded venue. We laughed and sang along and had a great time.

Vacation!

Tonight started my week of vacation. I went to the movies (Mamma Mia!) with a co-worker and that turned out to be the perfect decision. We had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen (mmm!) and wandered around Brookstone's a little before heading to the Kendall Square Cinema. The food was tasty and my drink was also tasty.

Mamma Mia! Well, I didn't know the story except that it was a musical based on some of Abba's songs. I'm not a huge Abba fan (ask Brad), but I like a good musical and I loved the cast, so that's what I wanted to see. That was a great idea. It was a fun movie. It looked like the cast was having a great time (overall). And now I have Abba songs stuck in my head. ;)

It was a perfect way to end a week of stress and start a week of vacation. (We're staying in town and doing Boston-local touristy things.)

Movies, movies, movies!

I've seen a lot of movies this summer, which is unusual. But my sweetie likes to see movies and it's fun when a group of us go. Of the ones I've seen so far, my three favorites are: Wall-E, Iron Man and Kung Fu Panda.

We've also seen (listed alphabetically): The Dark Knight, Get Smart, Hancock, Hellboy II, Horton Hears a Who, Indiana Jones, Prince Caspian and Speed Racer.

I think that's all of them so far. Not too much is coming up in August, but we're slated to see Mamma Mia!

I definitely want to own Wall-E once it's out on DVD.

Musings about music

I recently had to recreate my iTunes playlists and made a new one for my iPod first. I decided to pick people who I hadn't listened to in a while and it's worked out really well. I had kind of forgotten how much I liked Paul Simon's work.

Yay for deciding to poke around in my collection more (I have over 60G of music and only a 4G iPod).

Avatar: The Last Airbender

What a wonderful show. Seriously. I had no idea what Avatar was when my sweetie first mentioned it to me, but I was willing to watch an episode and see. Well, we finished Book 2 last night and wanted more... So we went to Blockbuster and rented the first volume of Book 3 and watched all of it. We'll have to rent volume 2 from Blockbuster soon and watch that and then wait for the rest of Book 3 to air. And buy the whole Book. Amazing stuff. Really amazing stuff.

Doctor Who (season 2 of the new round)

So far I've watched 5 episodes of season 2 (well, the Christmas special plus 4 eps). I do like the first new Doctor better, but this one isn't bad. There's something charming about him.

The cat has been very approving of this tv watching time and has occupied my lap for most of it. =^.^=

A movieful weekend

We were crazy movie watching people this weekend. Because the Bourne Ultimatum was out, we wanted to watch the other two (which was good because I think I must have been exhausted the first time I saw Bourne Identity and dozed through it that time), so we watched both of those this weekend. I really enjoyed Bourne Identity and liked Bourne Supremacy, but hated (HATED!) the filming of Bourne Ultimatum. I ended up either closing my eyes or covering my good eye so I could watch things fuzzily rather than deal with how much the camera was jumping around. Annoying. We also saw Stardust, which we all enjoyed a lot. I think that might have to go on my "to own" list at some point. I still need to see the Simpsons Movie and Ratatouille, but they can wait. :D
